Coastal Bays of New England
Program Details
The program runs for 10 weeks, tentatively June 9 through August
15, 2008.
Interns are responsible for scheduling their own transportation to
and from Cape Cod. Limited travel reimbursements will be available.
Students will receive a stipend (amount TBA) for participation in
the program. Housing will be provided in one of two off-campus rental
homes. Both houses are within 10 miles of Woods Hole and come furnished
with fully equipped kitchens. Interns will be asked to share a bedroom with
one or two other interns.
Interns will work with their host scientist at that scientist's
institution (Boston University Marine Program, Marine Biological Laboratory,
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, The Woods Hole Research Center),
all located within the town of Woods Hole. All interns will meet
for a weekly seminar to discuss research design, data analysis and presentation,
and how to write and present a scientific paper. Students will also
present progress reports of their research, and we will discuss the process
of applying to graduate school and other career options.
At the end of the project, students have the opportunity to
present the results of their research at an informal meeting open to
the entire Woods Hole community.
