MBL, WOODS HOLE, MA—The MBL Associates and the Falmouth Public Library are pleased to announce “Science Before Supper,” a new series of talks by MBL scientists designed to whet the public’s appetite for all things science. The free talks, which will all take place at the Falmouth Public Library, Main Branch, are designed especially for non-scientists.
The series will kick off on Thursday, October 11 with Nathan Wilson, Director of MBL Center for Library and Informatics, who will discuss the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL), an unprecedented effort to increase awareness and understanding of living nature. EOL is an open, freely-accessible and trusted digital resource. Mr. Wilson will discuss how the EOL benefits science and scientists, and how public participation can help make it better. His talk “The Encyclopedia of Life: Cataloging Every Species on Earth!” will begin at 5:00 PM in the library’s Hermann Foundation Meeting Room, 300 Main Street, Falmouth.
Upcoming “Science Before Supper” talks include:
