MBL offers a state of the art Central Microscopy Facility for use by researchers and the courses.  Microscopy systems include a Transmission Electron Microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope as well as Light Microscopy equipment including several traditional wide-field compound systems, both inverted and upright, most with fluorescence capabilities.  The CMF is also home to several Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopes with available spectral imaging, stage incubation, and two-photon capabilities.  A micro-dissection and laser tweezers system is available as is a versatile stereo dissecting microscope with fluorescence module. All systems are capable of capturing digital images and the facility has systems for image processing.  Along with the resident instruments the facility procures many instruments on loan.  Also available is a host of sample preparation equipment for fixing, drying, embedding, sectioning, and coating.
