"In 2013 MBL celebrated its 125 year anniversary. The year also marked a milestone in climate science. When the MBL was founded in 1888, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere was 290 parts per million (ppm). That concentration passed 400 ppm in 2013 - a level higher than any time in the last 600,000 years. If we continue business as usual, atmospheric carbon dioxide could reach levels not seen in several million years."
