E. A. Dawidowicz
Director of Education

Lenny Dawidowicz joined the MBL in 1995 as Administrator of a NASA-funded Center in the Space Life Sciences. In 1998 he assumed his current position as Director of Education. In this latter role he provides oversight for the MBL Educational Program and Summer Fellowship Programs.

Lenny holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry with advanced post-doctoral training in lipid biochemistry. He was a member of the faculty at the Harvard Medical School for twelve years in the Department of Physiology. In that capacity he taught medical students, graduate level courses, supervised graduate student research and served as Chair of Admissions for the Graduate Program in Cell Biology. His research on intracellular lipid transport was widely recognized by invitations to contribute reviews on this topic.

In subsequent years prior to coming to the MBL Lenny served as a Program Officer at the NIH within the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. His grant portfolios included cell biology, structural biology and biochemistry as well as post-doctoral fellowships in these areas. He also served on NIH-wide committees to revise grant-related procedures.

Lenny is dedicated to the task of advancing the outstanding reputation that the MBL Educational Program holds within the community for training the next generation of scientists.
