Chief Financial Officer
Homer Lane has served as the MBL's Cheif Financial Officer since 1998. During his early tenure he arranged two bond issues, selected and implemented a new accounting system, completed a risk management assessment, and took on oversight of the laboratory's research management function. More recently he was a key player in developing a Strategic Plan for the MBL, negotiated a memorandum of understanding with Brown University for a joint Ph.D. program, and consolidated all MBL’s debt into a lower priced bond issue. He now also oversees MBL’s housing & conference activities and chairs the MBL compliance committee.
Prior to joining the MBL, Homer was a career banker. From 1984 to 1998, he was with Fleet Financial Group in Rhode Island holding positions in investment banking, treasury, global services, and commercial lending areas. Homer started his banking career at J.P. Morgan working in operational and lending positions from 1973 to 1984.
Homer is a member of the Association of Independent Research Institutes (AIRI), and is Chair of its Information Committee. Homer received his MBA and BS in Civil Engineering from Columbia University.
