The deadline has passed and we are currently reviewing applications. Thank you to all who applied.
No one should be unable to attend the reunion due to financial hardship. We are pleased to announce that the Grass Foundation has coordinated with the MBL and a group of individual contributors to provide funding for a travel assistance program. The travel assistance program, which will be administered by an independent committee and by the MBL, is intended to help defray travel costs for those in need. An independent committee of former Grass Foundation Trustees and Fellows will review travel assistance applications, which must be submitted by March 1. Decisions will be based on objective criteria such as demonstrated financial need (including annual salary, net worth), cost to attend, and number of dependents (though travel support is for former Fellows only and will not extend to traveling companions). Applications will remain anonymous to all but the review committee and MBL support staff who process applications and checks.
The Grass Foundation has made every attempt to keep attendance costs low in order for as many people as possible to attend the upcoming Reunion Weekend. To that end, the Foundation will contribute to the travel assistance program (see above) to facilitate participation by those for whom travel costs would present a financial hardship. The travel assistance fund is also possible thanks to generous contributions from a group of individual contributors. The Grass Foundation is a section 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
