Configuring a Mail Client

The procedures for configuring mail clients vary based on the software used and the operating system the software is running on. You will need the following information to configure your mail client to access our mail server.

Please remember to replace 'username' with your actual MBL username.
  • Incoming mail server name: = email.mbl.edu
  • Outgoing (SMTP) mail server name: = smtp.mbl.edu
  • Username/Account: = username
  • E-mail address: = username@mbl.edu

We suggest that you use webmail when accessing your mail account from an off-campus location. You can access webmail at http://mail.mbl.edu

If you choose to use your mail client from an off-campus location, you will need to use the outgoing (SMTP) mail server at your off-campus location. For example, if you are using your mail client on a computer located at a university, you will have to use the university's outgoing (SMTP) mail server as your outgoing mail server. This is also true if you are using your mail client via an Internet Service Provider (ISP) - you will have to use the ISP's outgoing mail server as your outgoing mail server.
