Webmail Information

You can access your MBL e-mail account via a web browser using the folllowing URL: http://mail.mbl.edu

There is a timeout of 30 minutes on webmail. When your webmail connection has been idle for 30 minutes, you will be disconnected. You are considered to be active ONLY when you access the mail server. If you spend more than 30 minutes composing an e-mail, your connection will timeout before you can send the e-mail and your e-mail will be lost. Once your connection has timed out, there is no way of saving the message you have just composed. Following are two suggestions to prevent this from happening:

  1. Compose your e-mail message in Microsoft Word and copy and past it into an e-mail message. This way you can take as long as you want to compose the message without worrying about timing out.

  2. Periodically save your e-mail message as a draft. If your webmail connection times out, you can retrieve the last saved copy of your e-mail message from the drafts folder. When you have completed and sent your e-mail, be sure to delete the saved versions of your e-mail from your drafts folder.
