MBL-Guest System
MBL IT is pleased to announce a new Wireless Guest Internet access system. The system is extremely easy to use and is very similar to systems that are widely deployed in hotels and Internet cafe's. This system is geared towards meeting the needs of the many Visitors, Contractors, Vendors and other non-permanent people that pass through the MBL and need "casual" Internet access to websites and email. The system will also meet the needs of many MBL employees as well. It is important to note that like other "Guest" systems; this system is not connected to the main MBL data Network and as a result some services will not be available including:
  • Connecting to file servers inside the MBL Network will only be available via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. (Please contact the MBL IT @ x7654 if you have questions on the MBL IT VPN service)
  • Connecting to MBL network printers is not possible.
Instructions:

MBL-Registered System
The new "MBL-Registered" wireless system replaces "MBLW" and is for users that use wireless but need to be directly connected to the MBL Network. This system employs a highly secure 140-bit data encryption scheme to protect all information going across the airwaves. In general, this system will be appropriate for year round employees and summer PI's that connect to file-servers, printers and other systems that reside on the MBL data network. This system requires some configuration on the systems that connect to it located below

Instructions:
Note: MBL IT will configure your systems for you upon request. Please note that as of now Windows "Vista" systems are not supported by this system. MBL IT will provide an alternate SSID for "Vista" users until the situation is resolved. "Vista" users please contact the MBL IT @ x7434 and an IT Staff member will assist you. We expect a patch for this issue to be in place in the next 90 days.
