The purpose of the KMCB Meeting is to provide a forum for anyone working on or interested in the Molecular Cell Biology of Trypanosomes and Leishmania and related model organisms, without restrictions on attendance. Participants whose primary focus is on pathogenesis and drug development will also be welcome. Presentations (talks and posters) of research-in-progress by young investigators are strongly encouraged, but the program will also feature overview talks by senior investigators, to respond to the often-heard complaint of students and postdocs that they rarely hear senior investigators discuss their work within a broader framwork, which generally happens in the context of smaller invitation-only meetings. Overview speakers will be invited from among those who register to attend the meeting, bearing in mind the need for selective coverage and for keeping some topics in reserve for future meetings. We plan to allow more time for discussion than has been possible at larger meetings, and we will not have concurrent sessions. Any suggestions for coverage of specific topics, in a workshop or panel format, will be welcomed. The plan is to hold this meeting in alternate years. The next meeting is scheduled for April 26-29, 2009.
The meeting will commence with registration on the afternoon of Monday April 23rd, with dinner followed by an evening scientific session and social mixer, and will conclude at noon on Thursday April 26th. Please plan to stay until the end: we will try to minimize 'meeting fatigue'!
Organizer: George Cross
Program Committee: Vivian Bellofatto, Markus Engstler, Michael Ferguson, Laurie Read
REGISTRATION AND ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:
Deadline: March 8, 2007
Assignment for a talk or poster will be confirmed (by e-mail): March 30, 2007
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE REGISTERING
All registration, payment and abstract submissions must be conducted on-line. The registration process has been designed to help the meeting organizers keep track of registrations, abstracts and payments, to facilitate production of the printed abstract book, and to allow users continued access to their registration information and abstract submissions up until the registration deadline. The ABSTRACT BOOK will be generated automatically from the web site so PLEASE FOLLOW THE FORMATTING INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. The organizers cannot guarantee that your errors will be corrected.
Follow this link to register and/or submit an abstract (up to 270 words long) - Registration is now closed. If you have already registered and wish to update your registration information or submit or modify an abstract then follow this link to log back in.
Each person attending the conference must register separately. Please do NOT give your password to anyone else, and do not use anyone else's password, as this could result in the accidental alteration or deletion of your abstract and registration information!
After this portion of the registration process is finished you are free to log back in as needed. You do not need to submit an abstract when you first register, as you will be able to log back in to the site to access all of your information and make changes as needed, including submitting and/or updating the abstract. However, all abstracts must be submitted (and any final changes made) before the March 8, 2007 deadline.
PAYMENT IS DUE UPON REGISTRATION:
The Conference Fee is $535.00 inclusive of all meals and lodging and $415.00 for meals but excluding lodging, for those who wish to reside off campus.
If you do not have a credit card, you must coordinate registration with a colleague whom you can reimburse by cash or check (e.g., the head of your lab). In exceptional circumstances where credit card registration is impossible, please contact William Villineau (conferences@mbl.edu) at MBL.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
After your payment has been received, there will be a $50 cancellation fee for cancellations received before March 1, 2007 and $100 for those received thereafter until 72 hours prior to the start of the meeting. If you are registered for the meeting and know that you will not be able to attend, we would appreciate it if you could notify us as early as possible.
FURTHER INFORMATION:
All abstracts will be presented either orally or in poster format. Please indicate your preference. Speakers will be selected on the basis of their abstracts and at the discretion of the program committee. It is expected that the individual submitting an abstract will personally present the poster or talk. We can consider only one abstract per registration.
Individuals scheduled to speak on the first day will be informed in advance, but no other detailed scheduling information will be released prior to the meeting. A list of abstracts and authors will be available at this web site approximately one week prior to the start of meeting. By submitting an abstract, you are agreeing to the publication of the abstract and author list on the KMCBM web site.
If you require accommodations for either Monday or Friday night these must be reserved in advance by contacting William Villineau at MBL (508) 289-7212. Availability of these rooms is limited and an additional fee of $40.00/day must be paid in advance. This fee does not include meals.
