Chief of Staff
Pamela Clapp Hinkle is the MBL’s Chief of Staff. She is an advisor to the MBL president and director, oversees the MBL’s relationships with internal and external stakeholders, manages community and government relations, serves as the primary liaison to the MBL Board of Trustees, manages key strategic initiatives, special projects and events, and serves as the primary point person for interactions, initiatives and activities with the MBL’s partners at the University of Chicago. Pam has served the MBL in a variety of capacities since joining the staff in 1982. Most recently she was Director of Development and External Relations, where she oversaw the MBL’s fundraising efforts, including the $125M Catalyst Campaign, and its communications activities. Prior to that she was the MBL’s Director of Communications, was Managing Editor of The Biological Bulletin and served as administrative director of the MBL’s Science Journalism Program. A Cape Cod native, Pam earned a B.S. in biology from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
