Haliplanella is a common but often overlooked anemone due to it's small size. It is genreally less than 3/4 inch tall (20 mm) by 1/4 inch wide (6mm). It has a dark base with stripes that range from dark red to whitish.

This animal is non-native. It was first reported in New Haven Connecticit in 1892. It is also found in Europe but is believed to have originated in the Pacific. It can be found intertidally, low, amongst rocks and gravel.
