The common "beach flea" of the local beaches. These amphiods are semi-terrestial, never living far from the ocean. They often spend the daylight hours hiding underneath seaweed and other wrack on the beach. When distrubed they jump erratically, hence the nickname.

Beach fleas are scavengers and are harmless to people.
