2007 MBL Club Special Events

Imagination as Creation: Drama Intensive with Bronwen Armstrong at the Mbl Club. We will play, explore, rehearse, and perform a short play that will be decided on the first day of class. If you wish to participate as technical assistant only in the second week, tuition is half price. Bronwen Armstrong is currently training in New York City with the Atlantic Theater Company.

"Coastal Explorers" Seashore Science Course: Join our experienced Montessori-trained instructors for a two-day seashore adventure at the MBL this summer. Children ages 4, 5, 6 are invited to explore the Woods Hole coastline, learn about native species of fish and invertebrates at the Woods Hole Science Aquarium and MBL Marine Resources Center, and participate in related hands-on art projects and activities.

  • Two Sessions: July 10 and 12 (Tues. and Thurs.): 10:00 AM to 2: PM and July 24 and 26 (Tues. and Thurs.): 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • AGES: 4, 5, 6 year olds
  • FEES: $65 MBL Club Members/ MBL Associates/ MBL Employees; $85 Non-members, non Associates


Wednesday Night Special Events: All Wednesday Night Events will be held in the MBL Club and begin at 7:00 PM unless otherwise noted.

  • July 11 Rainforest Reptile Show: Alligators, turtles, and snakes from the world's neo-tropical rainforest to sub-tropical rainforest. You will be thrilled and excited by expert herpetologists who will share facts and dispel misconceptions about the rainforest and the reptiles that live in them. Meet and greet the "stars" of the show at its conclusion. Members are free. Adults, $8 and children, $5.
  • July 18 Family Potluck Dinner: Bring a yummy dish and a musical instrument/talent for a night of good food, an open mic, and catching up with your new and returning MBL Club friends.
  • July 25 Science Slam: Come express yourself! MBL summer course students are especially encouraged to join us for an open mic night at the MBL Club. MBL Club members and guests are invited to attend! Course students and MBL members, free. Guests, $3.
  • August 1 The Pete & Mike Band (8 PM): The Pete & Mike Band is a Cape Cod-based acoustic duo with more than twenty original songs, a flurry of sing-along covers, and the un-challenged lamest band name in the business. Woods Hole favorites, The Pete & Mike band offers a set that will entertain children, adults, students, and families. Members, free. Adults, $5. Students & children, $3.
  • August 8 Storyteller Lauren Carson: Fairies, Fools, and Finaglers? Join storyteller Lauren Carson for a program of stories guaranteed to delight and enchant. Drawing from world folk and fairy tales, Carson brings to life the cunning of tricksters, the silliest of the sillies, and the magic of fairies. A fun event for all ages. Adults, $5. Children, $3.
  • August 15 Farewell Ice Cream Social: It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over! Enjoy ice cream sundaes and reminisce about your favorite summer memories. The event is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Falmouth Service Center’s Fresh Start program. This program provides school supplies for the upcoming school year to children in need. This event is free, but for members only!
