OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS

The Marine Resources Center’s Educational Outreach Program – launched in Spring 2001 – provides hands-on training and cutting-edge educational experiences in the fields of marine resource management, population genetics, marine fish and invertebrate behavior, aquaculture, laboratory science, water quality analysis, marine fish and invertebrate husbandry, and culture. College students and recent college graduates are eligible to participate in internships throughout the school year and the MRC will cooperate fully with colleges and universities to obtain course credit for undergraduate students if desired. Those who participate in the MRC Internship Program can develop technical skills and high level research skills if qualified.

Adults over the age of eighteen are welcome as MRC volunteers to participate in one of the many available volunteer projects. Senior citizens are especially encouraged to join the dedicated group of existing volunteers, many of whom are members of AmeriCorps.

High school students are encouraged to contact the National Marine Fisheries Service aquarium in Woods Hole for volunteer opportunities.

For a complete listing of Summer programs for children on Cape Cod, please see the Woods Hole SeaGrant website.
