James M. Clark

The MBL flag will be lowered in memory of former MBL trustee and emeritus member of the MBL Society James M. Clark who died on October 24, 2015 at his home in Woods Hole. He was 93.

Mr. Clark served as a MBL trustee from 1979 to 1983 and again from 1988 to 1991. He was a member of the MBL Corporation from 1986 to 1998 and was named an emeritus member in 1999.

A “prolific Cape philanthropist,” Mr. Clark and his wife, Ruth, were responsible for several large donations to Falmouth Hospital and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and were instrumental in the restoration of Highfield Hall & Gardens.

A service will be held October 30, at noon at the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole. A public reception at Highfield Hall & Gardens will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for Falmouth Hospital, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA  02601 or the Highfield Hall & Gardens, PO Box 494, Falmouth MA  02541.
