UG-Cost Share

Cost sharing on federal proposals cannot be used as a factor during the merit review of a proposal except in certain circumstances.

The federal government does not expect voluntary committed cost sharing in proposals.  It cannot be used as a factor during the merit review of an applications or proposals unless it is both in accordance with federal awarding agency regulations and specified in the notice of funding opportunity.  For proposals submitted after December 26, 2014, cost sharing may not be a factor in the review process unless it is both in accordance with Federal awarding agency regulations and specified in the notice of funding opportunity.

The Uniform Guidance is effective for federally sponsored agreements and new funding increments awarded on or after December 26, 2014.

Federal awards received before December 26, 2014 must continue to follow the requirements in OMB A-122.
