1.0 Policy Statement:
MBL provides radios for use by MBL employees to assist in performing the official business of the MBL, including emergency communication.

2.0 Radio licenses, for the use of the the two way systems, have been issued to the MBL and are governed under Part 97 of Federal Communications Act. There are strict rules and regulations that must be observed in order to continue operating under these licenses. The FCC has the ability to monitor MBL’s Frequencies at will, whether complaints are made or just normal spectrum monitoring.

3.0 Radio Use:

It is imperative that all transmissions on these systems be done in a professional, business-like manner.  MBL radios use 2 channels which can both be scanned.  Channel 1 should be used for short conversations to establish contact and for emergency calls.  More detailed communications can use Channel 2.  Details best not transmitted over the air waves should be made by telephone.

4.0  Policy Clarification and Updates:
Policy clarification and updates are available from the Facilities Office.
