1.0 Policy Statement:
The American Flag is to be displayed above the Lillie Laboratory each day that the weather and roof conditions allow. Unless notified by the Director’s Office to the contrary, flag ethics are to be those published in “Flags of the U.S.A.” by David Eggenberger. The applicable section is shown in Attachment A.

2.0 MBL Exceptions:
Any and all exceptions shall be approved by the Director’s Office. Any and all exceptions, such as half mast displays, shall be communicated from the Director’s Office directly to Plant Operations and Maintenance for implementation. The Director’s Office will determine the appropriate length of time for half mast displays, etc.

    2.1 Flags will be lowered at half-mast at the MBL for the appropriate period of time whenever a member of the Corporation or a Trustee passes away.
    2.2 Flags will be lowered at half-mast for the appropriate period of time when a current staff member or long term former employee passes away.
