1.0 Policy Statement

This policy is written to establish the Marine Biological Laboratory’s position and guidelines regarding the annual general increase.

2.0 General Increase

The MBL strives to pay its employees a fair and equitable base salary. In order to accomplish this the MBL has instituted an annual general increase for all active, regular employees.

3.0 Effective Date

The annual general increase is effective on the first day of the first full pay period in April.

4.0 Eligibility

Active, regular, full-time and part-time, benefit eligible MBL employees.

5.0 Exclusions

The following groups are excluded from the Annual General Increase:

  • Employees hired or promoted in the three (3) months leading up to the general increase effective date
  • Employees on a leave of absence (General Increase will be given upon their return to work, retro-active to the April effective date)
  • Postdoc employees who are paid according to NIH guidelines
  • Temporary employees
  • Non-MBL staff
  • Distinguished Scientist
  • Adjunct Scientists

MBL reserves the right to amend this policy at any time.
