As required under guidelines from the National Institutes of Health, the MBL's Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) reviews MBL research that involves recombinant DNA or materials requiring biosafety precautions. The committee includes members of the MBL year-round and summer communities and a representative from the Woods Hole/Falmouth area. IBC responsibilities and research areas requiring approval are described on the NIH website.
