"Coffee & Conversations"
MBL WHOI Library Director Cathy Norton spoke at the Associates' November Coffee and Conversation.
The first of three Coffee & Conversations was held on
Monday, November 3rd in the Meigs Room of the Swope Center, with more than 65 Associates and guests attending. Cathy Norton, Director of the MBL WHOI Library, gave a presentation titled The Intellectual Heart of Woods Hole. Laptop computers with Internet and Powerpoint programs contrasted with displays from the Library's Rare
Books Room.
From the Gift Shop
Sales have remained very strong at the Associates Gift Shop during the summer and fall. Our gross income is comparable to 2002, which was a better year than the previous four years. We found a new vendor to embroider the full MBL logo and added a new canvas tote, fleece-lined vests and a boxy-cut sweatshirt in three new colors to show off the logo's terrific detail. Several new children's books were introduced, along with more jewelry, note cards, and toys.
Thank you to our intrepid Gift Shop Volunteers. They have once again spent countless hours giving directions, explaining the differences between MBL and WHOI, advising on clothing sizes, and of course ringing up sales! The MBL couldn't have better ambassadors.
Gift Shop Volunteer Luncheon
The annual luncheon for the Associates Gift Shop volunteers was held on Friday, August 15th in the Meigs Room of the Swope Center. Thirty-two guests enjoyed a light lunch, met the MBL's new Director of External Affairs, Carol Pooser, and heard Associates Fellow Francesca Gerhardi give a brief overview of her summer project here at the laboratory.
