MPM2020 Travel Awards

Through donations from MPM attendees, journals, foundations and other generous individuals and institutions we will be able to offer a limited number of travel awards to students, postdocs or junior faculty from Africa, South East Asia and South America. These awards will cover registration and accommodation at the meeting and a contribution to the cost of travel.

To help overseas attendees navigate the at times lengthy visa process, we instated an early application process with a firm deadline of February 29, 2020.

To apply assemble and e-mail a single pdf file with your name in the file name (e.g. Jane_Smith_MPMTravel.pdf) to mpmtravelaward@gmail.com.

This single document (with no more than six pages) should include:

  1. Your MPM abstract for your presentation (title, authors, affiliations, abstract with 270 words max)
  2. current CV no longer than 2 pages
  3. statement of why you wish to attend MPM no longer than 300 words
  4. A single letter of reference no longer than 2 pages.

Timely applications will be reviewed by a selection committee and awards will be made by the organizers based on funds available.

If you require an official “Certificate of Acceptance” in order to get local funding from your institution please contact MBL Conferences at conferences@mbl.edu . Registrants with Visa requirement – Cancel by Aug. 20 for refund of fees paid.

All registration, payment and abstract submissions must be conducted on-line. The registration process has been designed to help the meeting organizers keep track of registrations, abstracts and payments, to facilitate production of the printed abstract book, and to allow users continued access to their registration information and abstract submissions up until the registration deadline. If you registered online before, then you may use your same email address and password to logon and submit your registration for 2018. Use the “forgot password” option with your email address.

The abstract book will be generated AUTOMATICALLY from the information you enter into the website forms so please follow the formatting instructions precisely. Author generated errors may not be corrected.

NOTE TO PIs: Please be certain your students, postdocs and others all enter your name with the same name spelling to allow proper indexing of your abstracts.

As has been traditional for MPM, registration and costs for students and postdocs are lower than PIs and staff to encourage attendance by junior scientists.

After your payment has been received by the MPM, there will be a $150 cancellation fee for cancellations received before August 20, 2020.

DEADLINE – If you have not paid by August 20, 2020 your registration will be cancelled.

All accepted abstracts will be presented either orally or in poster format, with speakers to be chosen on the basis of submitted abstracts. It is expected that the individual submitting an abstract will personally present the poster or talk. For reasons of time and space, we can consider only one abstract per person. Maximum length for abstract submission – 270 words.

In accordance with tradition, those individuals scheduled to speak on the first day will be informed in advance, but no other detailed scheduling information will be released prior to the meeting. A list of abstract titles and authors will be available at this web site approximately one week prior to the start of meeting (by submitting an abstract, you are agreeing to the publication of the abstract title and author list on the MPM web site).
