In Spring 2018 MBL started partnering with a local company-COMPOST WITH ME– to help reduce the nitrogen footprint of the MBL.

Since starting this initiative Swope Dining Hall has significantly reduced the amount of kitchen waste sent to the landfill.

Averaging 384 gallons of compostable material per week!

During the first year of the project we learned many ins and outs of what was working well and what was not. Since then the Dining Team has partnered up with the Go-Green committee on campus and is making further strides. MBL has recently purchased new waste bins to add composting to both Café Swope and Swope Dining Hall. Once the new bins are in- Swope Dining will only utilize all compostable single use items!
