1.0    Policy Statement:
Large email attachments are the single largest factor driving email system performance over the network and a major driver of storage consumption. In addition, large email attachments are not accepted by many institutional email systems resulting in email not being delivered.

2.0    Size limit
The MBL has established a limit on the size of email attachments to a total of 15MB per email.

2.1    Users needing to send files larger than this size to recipients outside of the MBL can use the MBL’s FTP system or a generic Internet file-share/file transfer system (e.g. DropBox, YouSendIt).

2.2    Users can share large files within the MBL user community via the Zimbra Briefcase or generic Internet file transfer systems.

3.0    Policy Clarification and Updates:
Policy clarification and updates are available from the IT Department.
