Parking, Transportation and Grounds
Transportation & Grounds provides a wide variety of campus services including moving heavy equipment and course materials, recycling, shuttles, parking, grounds maintenance, warehouse management, bike room storage, and large-scale shredding.
MBL parking facilities are available for employees and visitors in accordance with the following:
All vehicles must have a current, valid MBL parking permit. Employee parking stickers are issued by the Housing Office personnel located in the Swope Building. To obtain an MBL parking sticker, please complete the online registration form here.
Parking permits are to be placed on a rear left window of the vehicle. Pickup trucks may place the permit on the driver’s window (left side). If in doubt, ask for assistance.
Day Visitor Parking Passes are issued through the Housing Office. If you are expecting a visitor, please either fill out the Parking Request Form or call the Front Office at Extension 0 a day or two before your guest arrives to arrange for day parking. You may pick the pass up at the Front Desk or leave it there for your guest to pick up. They will then be instructed on where to park. The visitor pass must be placed inside the vehicle on the dashboard and clearly visible or it will get towed.
Issuance of an MBL parking permit does not guarantee parking. Parking permits are required year-round.
Parking is prohibited in driveways, at fire hydrants, loading zones, on lawns and generally in areas not designated for parking. Any vehicles violating these rules will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Campus parking lots are indicated on the campus map here. Red permit parking is not allowed on main campus lots from the Tuesday after Memorial Day until the Tuesday after Labor Day. During the summer months, parking is at the Devil’s Lane Parking Lot. The shuttle between Devil’s Lane and the campus runs Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings. You can view the shuttle schedule here.
- Devil’s Lane Parking Lot (300 Oyster Pond Road)
Any vehicle with a current year parking permit of any color may use this location. The parking lot is approximately one mile out of the village and is close to the Shining Sea Bike Path. Bike racks and a storage shed are available at no charge.
- Handicapped – as designated in each parking lot.
- The MBL is not responsible for vehicles parked in or traversing through MBL lots.
- Parking in MBL parking lots is at the vehicle owner’s risk.
- Owners of MBL parking-permitted vehicles are encouraged not to park at meters or side streets in the village during the summer months.
Bicycles are not permitted in MBL buildings with the exception of the Bicycle Garage located in the Ebert Hall basement. The facility shall not be used as a long-term storage area, but rather as a place to offer cycling commuters a secure and dry place to keep their bicycles as well as joggers and beach users a place to shower.
All members of the MBL community are eligible for a locker and a “parking spot” in the Bike Garage on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the Supervisor of Grounds & Transportation for more information at extension 7326 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Outdoor bike racks are located in the following areas (see map here):
- Behind Candle House
- MBL Street (between Rowe and Loeb)
- Entrance into Swope
- Back of Loeb parking lot
- Back of Lillie Building
The MBL is not responsible for bicycles parked on MBL premises. Parking in the MBL Bicycle garage, Devil’s Lane Parking Lot storage space, and outdoor racks around the MBL campus is at the owner’s risk.
Any accidents, problems or mishaps are to be reported to the Security Office at x7217.
