While MBL has always been a leading research center for the training of experimental biologists, where world-renowned scientists have taught through example for over a century, federal regulations now require that the training of ethical scientific conduct be a more formalized part of biomedical research programs. Training covers nine critical components:

  • research misconduct
  • data acquisition
  • publication practices
  • conflict of interest
  • mentor/trainee responsibility
  • peer review
  • collaborative science
  • animal welfare
  • human subjects

MBL partners with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) at the University of Miami to offer one of the best on-line training programs available, currently subscribed to by thousands of academic institutions, government agencies, and commercial organizations worldwide.  For more information about training and to enroll in the CITI program, contact research@mbl.edu.
