Summer Camp & Children's Programs
2022 Summer Camp
The MBL is partnering with YMCA Cape Cod and with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for the 2022 Summer Camp Program. Supporting our working families is always an important priority for the MBL and is of elevated importance given the challenges of COVID-19 and its impact on the availability of daycare and summer camps.
The YMCA-run outdoor summer day camp program will serve children ages 4 to 13 years, will be licensed through the Department of Public Health and follow appropriate COVID-19 safety precautions. The YMCA does not require children participating in camp to be vaccinated.
Periwinkle Camp for children ages 4-6 will be held in its traditional village location on the MBL campus and the Satellite Camp for children ages 7-13 will be held on the WHOI Quisset campus. Bus transportation to the Satellite Camp will be provided for children if needed.
Camp will begin Monday, June 21st and end Friday, August 26th. The program will operate Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM with extended day hours to cover 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Families will be able to sign up for one or more weeks of summer camp at a time.
A brochure of the program and additional registration information is forthcoming.
As families register for the program, they will receive a welcome packet with details such as: weekly payment, drop off & pick up location, parent handbook, list of items children provide for a healthy camp experience (e.g. sunscreen, hand sanitizer, face masks, towel, etc.), weekly lunch menu, who to contact in case of an emergency pick-up, how to communicate special instructions for your child (e.g. medication, etc.)
We are excited to offer this summer camp opportunity to the MBL community. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Egan at firstname.lastname@example.org and please list your email with subject: Summer Camp.
We recognize the critical role that camp and childcare programs play in enabling our faculty and staff to do their best work in support of MBL’s mission of research and education and are pleased to partner with the YMCA and our neighboring institution WHOI to offer this program.
