Security and Campus Emergencies

Campus Security provides 24-hour security services for the MBL Campus and MBL Community. Our mission is "To stand out while protecting from within and create an environment of safety and security."

Members of the department are committed to conducting their work in a respectful and dignified manner while providing a safe environment for those who live, learn, and work in our community.

Campus security is located on the first floor of the Swope Center and can be reached for non-emergencies at 508-289-7217.  In an emergency, dial 911 or contact campus security at 508-289-7911. We suggest you put these important numbers in your cell phone. Security is available after hours to help you if you get locked out of your housing or laboratory.

Emergency call boxes
Blue light emergency call boxes are located at the front entrance to Swope Center, Ebert Hall, Rowe Building, and Marine Resources Center. These blue lights flash in emergency situations and provide an immediate reference point for MBL Security for individuals in need of emergency assistance. The call box at Swope also has a non-emergency connection to MBL Security for visitors and guests that need to check in at the MBL after hours. Additional blue light emergency call boxes will be added to campus and MBL cottages.

MBLAlert
MBLAlert is used to communicate weather emergencies and other important notifications. In an emergency that requires immediate action, authorized personnel will use MBLAlert to send MBL community members short messages via email, SMS text messages, and/or automated phone calls to provide vital information quickly.  For additional information, please refer to the MBLAlert FAQ.

Medical attention
If it is an emergency, dial 911. The Falmouth Hospital is close, located just off Route 28, less than a mile north of the center of Falmouth. For non-emergencies, Urgent Care Falmouth is located at 273 Teaticket Hwy. Please be aware that we do have the tick-borne Lyme disease on Cape Cod.
