The MBL is offering a new internship opportunity to Massachusetts students: The Blue Economy Internship Program (BEIP).

BEIP, which is open to students attending Massachusetts public high schools, community colleges, and state colleges and universities, offers experiential learning opportunities, from research to communications. It is supported by a grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Students will have the opportunity to build their professional experience, skills, and knowledge related to the life sciences, technology, and the blue economy, which the state defines as the "sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs, and ocean ecosystems health."

"The MBL is delighted that the BEIP is back," said Linda Hyman, MBL's Director of Education. "It's a terrific opportunity to expose students to what we do at the MBL and how careers in STEM and related fields can support the Blue Economy and contribute to basic science research – a win, win!"

BEIP internships are open in a variety of MBL departments, including research, microscopy, environmental health and safety, administration, and more.
