Norman Rushforth

With sadness, the Marine Biological Laboratory notes the passing of Dr. Norman B. Rushforth, a longtime member of the MBL community, on March 16, 2026.

Dr. Rushforth studied chemistry at Birmingham University and education at Oxford University before earning his PhD in statistics at Cornell University.

Dr. Rushforth spent many summers at the MBL as an independent investigator (1965-1985). He also served as a special lecturer in Experimental Invertebrate Zoology (1972) and was a Corporation Member (1966–2006) and Corporation Lifetime Member (2007).
