It is with sadness that we share the passing of MBL Society Emeritus Member Paul T. Englund who died on January 12, 2019 at his home in Baltimore, MD. He was 80. The MBL flag will be lowered to half-mast in his memory.

Dr. Englund was Professor Emeritus of Biological Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He served as a faculty member of the MBL Biology of Parasitism course throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including serving as course director 1985 – 1988, and was an alumnus of the 1959 X-Invertebrate Zoology course and the 1961 Physiology course.

A memorial service will be held on April 13 at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Per his family’s wishes, donations may be made to the Biology of Parasitism course at the Marine Biological Laboratory to establish a lectureship in his name. Please make checks payable to the Marine Biological Laboratory and note “Englund Lectureship” on the check.
