It is with sadness that we share the passing of MBL Society Member and former Trustee Sir Hans Kornberg who died December 16, 2019 at the age of 91. The MBL flag will be lowered in his memory.
Dr. Kornberg was a member of the MBL Board of Trustees from 1979 to 1982 and served on the Board of the MBL Associates from 2009 to 2015. He was a faculty member of the Physiology course from 1964 to 1966 and the Microbial Ecology course from 1979 to 1983.
Dr. Kornberg was a professor of biology and a beloved member of the Boston University Biology Department for 24 years. View BU remembrance here.
A funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM on December 20 at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation, 7 Hatchville Road, East Falmouth, MA. Flowers, if desired, may be sent to Lady Kornberg, c/o Chapman Cole & Gleason, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, MA 02540. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers, in Dr. Kornberg’s memory to the Hans Kornberg travel prize at Christ’s College, Cambridge, England.
