Edwin Munro, associate professor of molecular genetics and cell biology at the University of Chicago, has been awarded the 2021 Nikon Fellowship at the Marine Biological Laboratory for his work on two research projects: the dynamics of gastrulation and neurulation in an ascidian; and cortical septin dynamics during polarization in early C. elegans embryos.

Since 1990, the summer Nikon fellowship at the MBL has been awarded to a young investigator doing research in an area of biology in which they can make extensive use of advanced microscopy or micro-manipulation systems and expertise provided by Nikon, Inc.
