Post-Course Research
The MBL provides funding for post-course research for students completing an Advanced Research Training Course. Post-course research opportunities vary on the course. More information on each course and those that provide post-course research can be found on the Advanced Research Training Course webpage.

Participate in a research workshop or conference
The MBL provides a variety of small hands-on training workshops in areas such as light-sheet fluorescence Microscopy, Aquatic Models of Human Disease, and Gene Editing.

Apply for MBL’s Postbaccalaureate Program
Empowering New Graduates to Access Graduate Education in Biology, or ENGAGE Bio, is a post baccalaureate program that supports training of recent STEM graduates in the biological sciences. It provides a mentored research experience related to ecosystems science, regenerative biology, microbiology, neuroscience, and optical physics/imaging.

The MBL/UChicago PhD Graduate Program is a newly established joint program between the MBL and the University of Chicago leveraging the unique partnership between the two institutions.

Apply for a Visiting Research Fellowships
MBL has several funding opportunities for those who wish to do research at the MBL either collaboratively or individually year-round through the rental of lab space. Opportunities include Whitman Center Fellowships and Grass Foundation Fellowships.

Rent Year-Round Lab Space
The MBL rents lab space with the inclusion of select general equipment and resources year-round. Additional research services including specialized microscopy equipment, marine research animals and maintenance support are provided at an additional cost. Additionally, the MBL provides Office of Sponsored Program support for visiting researchers interested in submitting a grant through the MBL.
