Members of the ANCIENT MARINER consortium successfully install 24,500 ft of line with young kelp sporophytes in Kodiak, AK

November 11, 2020

On the week of 11/2/2020, C.A. Goudey & Associates, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and their Kodiak partners completed the installation and seeding of the Popof Island kelp farm in Kodiak, Alaska. They set 24,500 feet of growline in 3.5 acres of water sheet using a two-module catenary array. Domenic Manganelli, of C.A. Goudey & Associates, generously shared some of his photos of the preparation and installation with us.

We applaud this strong effort by the Kodiak team and look forward to learning from your experiences as part of the ANCIENT (Alaska, Northeast, Caribbean Initiative for ENergy Technology) MARINER consortium.
